MateREAL Guide

The MateREAL guide provides sustainable alternatives to commonly used building materials such as glass, brick, and concrete. It also underscores the importance of considering external factors when choosing materials for a building.

LEED-Worthy Board Game

LEED-Worthy is a board game intended to educate teachers, students, and architectural clients about green building certification. LEED-Worthy’s purpose is to simplify the complex process of green building certification so that teachers, students, and clients are able to trace the process with more clarity in an engaging way. Throughout the development of the product, I was able to understand the details of earning certification points in each category of the LEED O+M: Schools category. The categories that I researched in depth are as follows: Location and Transportation, Sustainable Sites, Energy and Atmosphere, Water Efficiency, Materials and Resources, Indoor Environmental Air Quality, and Innovation. In addition to learning about the nuances of LEED certification, I was also able to experience the idea of model making. Though it was not model making in its true form because I was not creating a replica of a site per se, the creation of the board game gave me a taste of the mixture of innovation, technical thinking, and creativity--all part of the underlying themes of architecture.
