Week #1(08/31/20 - 09/06/20)
Last week was my first week where I delved into the subject of sustainable architecture. I researched all about my career; from college and education, to extracurriculars related to architecture, and what responsibilities architects take up. I definitely have more clarity of the architectural field and its outlook, and I learned that there are a variety of paths to take education wise depending on whether architecture was an existing or new passion at the end of high school. During the Labor day weekend, I had the opportunity to host an online event with my teammates at Global Innovation and Youth Leaders Summit where I was part of an environmental panel. I have attached a video to this blog! During this panel, I was able to ask the panelists about how the architectural industry would be affected by green trends and if it would grow in the future. I was able to connect with the panelists over LinkedIn to stay in touch with their work. The week was busy, however I learned so much from the combination of both the research assessment—which helped me formulate questions for the online event—and the panel over the weekend. During the week I also formulated my interview questions for my potential mentors, and I plan to add more as I think of them. Next week, I am excited to make my resume the best it can be, continue to update my online portfolio, and build my personal brand by sticking to a color scheme for my portfolio, growing my online presence by possibly starting up a YouTube channel, and by finding ways to be more authentic or stand out more. I am still wondering if architecture will grow in the future, especially the sustainable aspect of it. I want to be able to make enough money to travel and have a stable life, so hopefully the demand for sustainable ideas will continue to flourish in the future. Check out my research tab to learn about the pathway of becoming an architect, and a sustainable moreover!
