Week #3 (09/14/20 - 09/18/20): Project Reach-Out
This week was writing-heavy and intensely focused on the following things: resume, research assessment, and crafting the contact list. I focused on how green materials are classified. I made sure to ask myself the following questions: what are the requirements to be classified as a green building and what is the definition of sustainability with respect to buildings? To my surprise, sustainability is still very ambiguous in the building industry due to the numerous factors that comprise acquiring, creating, and transporting these materials. My research this week was a starting point to my final product and original idea. Finding loopholes within the industry helped me think about what I could contribute to the architectural field, particularly in an environmental manner. This was the week that I configured and finalized my resume. I made sure to only incorporate relevant information that connected all my experiences and motives throughout the resume. I reached out to my references, made final additions, and posted it on my digital portfolio. Something I have been finding quite satisfying is constantly updating my websites and adding small details, such as animations and transitions, to look better than the week before. As the week came to a close, I began finding potential contacts to set interviews with. I was completely clueless and nervous when it came to finding and reaching out to these contacts. I made sure that I had the proper etiquette by reading online articles on networking on linkedin. I also made sure to find professionals in various spectrums of the sustainable architecture industry and create a list organizing their contacts and work. Additionally, I had to remind myself to not get discouraged even if these professionals do not respond because they do lead quite busy lives. In the coming week, I hope to have gotten responses from at least 3 professionals and hopefully have an interview set with 2 of them. In addition to this, I would like to continue to find different ways to develop my personal brand by creating a logo for myself. Here is a picture to represent my week! It was quite an overwhelming one, but it definitely stretched my mind in different ways.
