Reconnecting and "New-Connecting"

Week #4 (09/21/20 - 09/25/20)

A lot of new things this week: first interview, project proposal, connecting, and reconnecting. I had the opportunity to meet with Aleksandra Jaeschke, professor at University of Texas at Austin. I had a better understanding of the field from this interview with Ms. Jaeschke because she had thoroughly explained to me that architectural professions require a lot of collaboration with engineers, city planners, politicians, and many more depending on the type of project taken up. She had helped me understand that though collaboration may limit architectural creativity, it aids in the understanding of different perspectives, problems, and even helps gain experience from working with different types of professionals. We also talked about the green certification process, college, and summer programs for aspiring architects. I was able to connect with another professional through Ms. Jaeschke which I hope to have an interview with next week. Through Ms. Jaeschke’s interview, I was able to write my project proposal with more clarity. Throughout this “reach-out” process, I was even able to reconnect with one of my former dance teachers from Colorado in which I had the opportunity to volunteer for an international asthma organization. My goal for this week is to create a detailed original work proposal, tweak some things in my resume, continue contacting professionals in the architectural field with a green background, and to find time to build my personal brand. I am thrilled for the business symposium coming up in the next week or two! If an image were to represent my week, it would undeniably be this because connections really make things possible!
