The Cloudiness Before Clarity

Week #8 (10/19/20 - 10/23/20):

This week left me in sort of an ambiguous state; especially when it came to my original work. This image is a perfect representation of this week because I felt like I was going the wrong direction with the right motive. At the start of the week, I completed an assessment of my interview with Ms. Sharma. I reflected on what I learned and how I could use the knowledge I gained from the interview experience. I think overall I have become a more confident speaker, especially when it came to the questions and doubts I have. This week, I had the chance to attend a microsoft workshop. I learned more about the unique features of powerpoint, how to use the platform for more efficiency, and how to add a more professional look to a presentation. Something that changed my perspective on sustainable building this week was my research assessment. This week I focused on a specific example of a green building; the Bullitt Center in Seattle, Washington. This building was intriguing especially because of its innovative design in conserving energy. As I was looking for an article about the Bullitt Center, I came across an article on human composting. Human composting, simply put, is the process of decomposing the human body until only the bones are left. The human components are used in gardens and other building systems for a sustainable motive. A similar ideology was implemented at the Bullitt Center which was very interesting to me. I had been having a hard time starting my LEED reform original project without a mentor, so instead, I began to think about creating a guideline of materials that are both affordable and environmentally friendly. With that being said, I want to create a step by step plan for success in my original work. I believe it is vital for me to have a ready plan so confusion is avoided in the process. Next week, I would like to contact two other professionals with a LEED and construction background.
